Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings for a large swath of Nova Scotia beginning Saturday evening and continuing into Sunday.

Rainfall of 50 to 70 millimetres is expected in Annapolis, Digby, Guysborough, Halifax, Lunenburg, Queens, Richmond, Shelburne, Victoria, Yarmouth and Cape Breton counties, as well as south of Mabou in Inverness County.

According to the warnings, localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas.

Environment Canada says the rain will end Sunday across western parts of Nova Scotia and in the evening over eastern parts.

Wind warning

A Les Suêtes wind warning is in place for Mabou and north in Inverness County.

Wind gusts of up to 110 km/h are expected from Margaree Harbour to Bay St. Lawrence starting Saturday night and diminishing by Sunday morning.

The warning said loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Strong crosswinds on highways may cause hazardous driving conditions, the warning said.
