One person dead after Highway 105 crash on Kellys Mountain
Transport truck and a car were involved, police say
Nova Scotia RCMP say one person is dead following a crash involving a transport truck and a car on Highway 105 in Cape Breton.
Police said they were called to the scene on Kellys Mountain around 9:03 a.m. Tuesday. The driver of the car, a 45-year-old woman from Victoria County, was killed in the crash.
RCMP advise that both lanes on Kellys Mountain, a roughly 20-minute drive northeast of Baddeck, are now closed.
Police said the transport truck was heavily damaged, but the driver, a 47-year-old man from Hants County, was not injured. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Motorists should expect significant delays while travelling in the area, near Exit 12 to Englishtown and Ingonish.
Sgt. Andrew Joyce, an RCMP spokesperson, said "it's looking like it's going to be a long time" before travel can resume through the area.
A collision re-constructionist is at the scene, according to Joyce, and the crash remains under investigation.
