Sable Island: CBC takes flight to broadcast from the island

A CBC Nova Scotia crew has landed on Halifax's most remote neighbourhood in preparation for the television and radio broadcasts from the island.

Information Morning prepares to broadcast live from Sable Island

They've landed!

After keeping a close eye on the weather over the last couple of days, conditions were favourable to get a CBC Nova Scotia crew to Halifax's most remote neighbourhood: Sable Island.

The weather forecast and sand conditions on the island have been unpredictable over the last few days, making for some nail-biting moments as we awaited the all-clear to take off.

As per our policy, CBC is paying for the cost of travel as well as accommodations on the island.

CBC News: Nova Scotia will feature reports from Tom Murphy beginning Wednesday at 5 p.m.

On Thursday beginning at 6 a.m., Don Connolly will host Information Morning live from Sable Island. It will be something nobody has ever done before — the first live broadcast from Sable Island.

Stay tuned to CBC Television, CBC Radio One and www.cbc.ca/ns for the latest on Sable Island coverage.
