Animal care worker Renee Sampson says Chico will be sent this week to a doggy daycare in Porters Lake, near Halifax.

The SPCA is a shelter facility, while the doggy daycare will be better equipped to handle Chico’s needs.

“We're here to adopt the animals and they come and go and stuff, but this facility is more of a daycare centre, so it’s somewhere where you would take your animal if you were going on a trip and they would have more of a normal home environment,” said Sampson.

Sampson says the SPCA has received a lot of calls from people offering to adopt Chico, but she says Jack’s family does not want to put the dog up for adoption.

The move will mean Chico is located closer to Jack and Jack’s family.
