Attempted murder charge laid after shooting in Cape Breton

A man was taken to hospital in Halifax with serious head injuries and another man has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting on Oram Drive in the Cape Breton community of Florence on Thursday.

One man is in hospital and another is facing charges including attempted murder after a shooting in Cape Breton on Thursday.

The incident happened on Oram Drive in Florence just after noon.

Cape Breton Regional Police say a man was taken to hospital in Sydney with head injuries as a result of the shooting and was later flown to Halifax for treatment.

The victim is described as a 28-year-old man from Alder Point, near Florence.

In a news release Friday, police say a 24-year-old suspect has been charged with attempted murder, uttering threats, possession of a dangerous weapon, careless use and pointing of a firearm and breaches of a previous court order.

The shooting is still under investigation and is believed to be an isolated incident between two men who know each other, police say.
