Snow squall watch issued for northern Cape Breton
Transit Cape Breton cancels service for the day due to road conditions
Victoria County and Inverness County north of Mabou are under a snow squall watch for Sunday evening and into Monday morning.
The special weather statements were issued shortly after 3:30 p.m.
The snow squall could bring more than 15 centimetres of snow to affected areas, with wind gusts up to 60 km/h.
Transit Cape Breton cancelled all service Sunday due to road conditions.
Most of Cape Breton saw between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow early Sunday morning, with winds gusting up to 70 km/h, but Environment Canada lifted snowfall warnings in Richmond County and the Sydney area by 11 a.m.
The warnings remained in Victoria County and Inverness County north of Mabou, but they were lifted in the early afternoon.
Flurries are expected to become more frequent Sunday evening as cold west-to-northwest winds settle over the region, according to Environment Canada.
