Halifax taxi driver facing sexual assault charge

Halifax police say a taxi driver is facing a charge of sexual assault after an alleged Saturday morning incident.

The accused will appear in Halifax provincial court in September

Halifax police say a taxi driver is facing a charge of sexual assault after an alleged Saturday morning incident.

Police said they were called around 2:50 a.m. by a 20-year-old woman who said she'd been touched in a sexual manner and kissed by a driver without her permission.

Shortly after, police found the 44-year-old male driver on Barrington Street.

Police said officers took the man into custody and he was released with orders to appear in Halifax provincial court in September.

Police said the woman was not injured.
