Third adult charged in relation to stabbing death of teen in Halifax
Woman, 44, charged with accessory to commit an indictable offence
A third adult has been charged in connection with the homicide of a 16-year-old boy outside a Halifax mall earlier this year.
The 44-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly providing false information to investigators and assisting the accused in avoiding arrest, said Halifax Regional Police in a news release Thursday.
Police said the woman is expected to appear in Halifax provincial court Friday on a single count of accessory to commit an indictable offence.
The victim, Ahmad Al Marrach, died in hospital after being stabbed in a parking garage of the Halifax Shopping Centre on April 22.
Four teenagers — three boys and a girl — were originally charged with second-degree murder in Al Marrach's death. Their names are banned from publication.
2 teens to be sentenced in 2025
One of those teens, a 17-year-old, pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He will be sentenced in February after undergoing a psychiatric-psychological assessment.
One of the other accused, a 14-year-old, has also pleaded guilty to manslaughter. She will be sentenced next year.
The two remaining accused still face second-degree murder charges and will go on trial next year.
Two other adults, a 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, were charged in August with one count each of accessory to commit an indictable offence.
