Pete’s grocery store in Wolfville is closing at the end of May and will throw about 50 full and part-time staff out of work, the company announced Friday evening in a news release.
The company says the store struggled to attract enough local customers. It says it will focus its operations on its Halifax and Bedford stores, which employ about 350 people.
Owner and Annapolis Valley resident Pete Luckett called the decision to close the store “heartbreaking.”
