2 drivers critically hurt in 3-car crash

Two drivers are in critical condition in hospital after a three-vehicle collision on Roger Stevens Drive near McCordick Road in southwest Ottawa late Wednesday afternoon.

One driver, a 34-year-old man, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries, paramedics said.

The other driver, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was treated by paramedics for head injuries, internal injuries, as well as fractures to both legs and an arm. She was also rushed to hospital.

Two children in the woman's car were taken to hospital. One of them, a three-year-old, was treated for minor facial and neck injuries, paramedics said. They said the two children were in their car seats.

The driver of the third car was not injured.

Roger Stevens Drive was closed while police investigated the accident.
