2 shootings, 1 of which critically injured a man, break Ottawa record
Police say there have been no arrests after Ottawa's record 50th, 51st shootings of 2016
Two shootings on Sunday, one of which left a man critically injured, have broken the annual gun violence record for Canada's capital.
The first shooting — the city's 50th in 2016 — happened at around 3 a.m. ET in the ByWard Market, near the intersection of George Street and ByWard Market Square.
A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, paramedics said.
On Monday police said the victim's condition had improved and his life was no longer in danger. No arrests have been made so far and the investigation continues.

Then, around 6:10 p.m. ET Sunday, several people called 911 to report hearing gunshots in the Billings Bridge area.
An officer who was nearby managed to get to the scene quickly but found only a broken window and shell casings on the 1200 block of Ohio Street.
No injuries have been reported and no suspects have been identified. It was the city's 51st shooting of the year.
