Ottawa·CANADA VOTES 2025

Prescott-Russell-Cumberland's new MP is Giovanna Mingarelli

Losing North Glengarry was one of the changes in the former Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. Another was that former Liberal MP Francis Drouin didn't run again.

This was 1 of 2 local ridings without an incumbent

Prescott-Russell-Cumberland is going to Liberal candidate Giovanna Mingarelli, CBC News projects.

The former Glengarry-Prescott-Russell now has a bit more of Ottawa, a lot less of Glengarry County and was one of the very few local ridings without an incumbent MP running for re-election.

The riding has generally voted Liberal, but went Conservative under Pierre Lemieux in the Stephen Harper years. Liberal Francis Drouin said last summer he was losing his passion for politics and would not run in 2025.

Liberal candidate Giovanna Mingarelli has co-founded consulting companies and has spoken before Parliament about young women in politics.

The only francophone-majority riding in Ontario, Prescott-Russell-Cumberland runs from rural east Ottawa to the Quebec border.

North Glengarry moved to Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry under the regular independent boundary review that followed the 2021 census.

Six candidates ran this time. Conservative Julie Séguin came in second.
