Firefighters say an oil lamp that knocked over and ignited a Christmas tree is to blame for a fire in a rural home, east of Rockland.
Clarence-Rockland firefighters called Ottawa firefighters for back up Thursday afternoon to help put out a house fire at 3035 Highway 17, just east of Rockland.
It was extinguished around 12:30 p.m., Ottawa fire reported.
One woman was taken to Hawkesbury hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
District fire chief Luc Chayer said the woman had just finished filling an oil lamp and tripped as she carried it into the living room. It ignited the natural tree and spread from there.
Total damages have not yet been released.
