Driver with open alcohol triggered fatal Eganville-area crash, police say
Accused faces 4 charges after Tuesday collision

Ontario Provincial Police say a 61-year-old driver who failed to stop at a construction zone south of Eganville early Tuesday afternoon, colliding with three other vehicles and killing another man, had an open alcohol container in his vehicle.
The accused, from Haliburton, Ont., refused to give a breath sample at the scene, OPP said Wednesday. The man is facing a total of four charges, and his driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days.
The multi-vehicle crash happened on Highway 41 south of Spring Creek Road, OPP said Tuesday.
On Wednesday, police said an 81-year-old man from the area was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not identified the victim.
Highway 41 was closed in the area for several hours.
The crash happened about four kilometres south of the village of Eganville, 35 kilometres south of Pembroke and 110 kilometres west of downtown Ottawa.
