A 30-year-old man is dead after his jeep collided with a hydro pole north of Cornwall Friday morning.

A 30-year-old North Stormont man is dead after his jeep collided with a hydro pole north of Cornwall Friday morning.

At around 7:45 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police officers were called to a single vehicle collision on Highway 138 south of McNeil Road.

Their investigation revealed that the man's jeep was heading north when it crossed the median, left the road, and struck a hydro pole on the highway's west side, the OPP said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no one else in the vehicle, police said.

Police continue to investigate the crash, including why the man's vehicle left the road.

A stretch of Highway 138 had been closed between County Road 43 in the town of Monkland and McNeil Road but has since re-opened, the OPP said.
