A woman, 40, is fighting for her life after being struck and police want to know if anyone saw what happened.

Ottawa police are seeking witnesses to a serious collision that sent an Ottawa woman to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say a dump truck with a plow was turning left from Iris Street to Woodroffe Avenue around 5:18 p.m. and struck the woman, 40, who was crossing Woodroffe.

Paramedics said she was found unconscious and pinned underneath the plow. She was removed and treated at the scene for internal injuries and fractures to her lower limbs.

Paramedics then transported her to hospital and she is still in critical condition in hospital Tuesday.

The 57-year-old driver of the truck was not injured. Alcohol and speed have both been ruled out in the collision.

The roads were very icy at that time due to freezing rain and numerous accidents were reported across Ottawa and Gatineau.

Police say they are having a tough time reconstructing the scene to find out how the crash happened and few witnesses have come forward.

Witnesses are asked to call Det. Kevin Bradford of Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext 2470 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477.
