Police seeking elderly couple who used crash victim's phone to call 911
Couple found unconscious man on east-end bike path April 24

Ottawa police are hoping to get in touch with an elderly couple who called 911 after finding a seriously injured man on an east-end bike path last month.
Police say the couple came across the unconscious man on a path near Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway and Highway 174 on April 24. The man had crashed his e-bike and suffered serious injuries, according to police.
The couple, who did not have a mobile phone, used the man's phone to call 911, but they left the scene before first responders could get their names or contact information, police said.
"First and foremost, we want to sincerely thank the couple for their quick response and for providing assistance at the scene. Thanks to their actions, the man received medical care promptly and is now recovering at home," police said in a news release Thursday.
Police said they would like to speak with the couple "to gather additional information for the investigation." No foul play is suspected in relation to the incident, according to a police spokesperson.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the east criminal investigations unit at 613-236-1222, extension 3566.
