Police seize 16 pythons, venomous snake, lizard in Gatineau

Police seized 16 pythons, a venomous snake and a lizard from a house in east Gatineau on Wednesday and a 24-year-old man is facing charges.

An east Gatineau home was raided with almost 20 reptiles seized by police.

Police seized 16 pythons, a venomous snake and a lizard from a house in east Gatineau on Wednesday.

A search warrant was executed at 1069 Notre-Dame St., off Maloney Boulevard East, at about 10:30 a.m. after a complaint about exotic animals.

Police seized 16 pythons measuring from 30 inches to 3.7 metres long, as well as a viper and a savannah monitor lizard 40 inches long.

Gatineau police said some of the reptiles were injured.

All of the seized reptiles were transferred into the care of Little Ray's Reptile Zoo.

A 24-year-old man was in the home at the time and is facing charges.
