The Ottawa Senators tried to stave off elimination and a sweep at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.

Liberal leader Justin Trudeau has already tweeted his support for the Habs, but one day after the federal budget was revealed, NDP leader Thomas Mulcair attended the Sens game.

It might not be a coalition, but Trudeau and Mulcair agree on one thing: their love for the Canadiens.

At home and facing elimination, the Sens were expected to continue their trend of strong first periods. However, Montreal was better early with the first six shots.

Ottawa had scored first in the first three games, and lost each one. Some Montreal fans were concerned that wasn't going to happen in Game 4.

The Habs had the fair share of power-plays since Game 2, including two in the first period to Ottawa's none, leaving some Sens fans upset about the discrepancy.

A rare call was then made in the second period. The Senators were penalized for two consecutive face-off violations. Montreal didn't score on the power-play, though.

This was a goaltending duel with no score through two periods. Craig Anderson for Ottawa and Carey Price for Montreal stood tall.

A group of Habs fans brought brooms to Game 4 in Ottawa. They were pretty excited about a potential sweep of the Sens.

But with just less than 11 minutes left in regulation, Mike Hoffman broke the deadlock.

Ottawa did score first in the first three games, which meant Habs fans weren't too worried.

But for the first time in the series, Ottawa held its lead and sends this series back to Montreal for Game 5 on Friday.
