Your Sunday morning may get a bit shaken up as the 11-storey building implodes.

The planned demolition of the Sir John Carling Building will force road closures on Sunday morning along Carling Avenue and near Dow's Lake.

The building at 930 Carling Ave. will be taken down with a controlled implosion by Public Works and Government Services Canada.

The 11-storey building has stood at the corner of Carling and Prince of Wales Drive since 1967 as the headquarters for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

It will be demolished at 7 a.m. on Sunday.

The road closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. in the 300-metre exclusion zone around the implosion.

Those closures are:

  • Carling from Irving to Preston streets.
  • Preston from Carling to Prince of Wales.
  • Prince of Wales from Preston to the National Capital Commission Scenic Driveway.
  • Maple Drive from Carling to Birch Drive.
  • Birch from Maple to the NCC Driveway.
  • Bayswater Avenue from Carling to Sherwood Drive.
  • Loretta Avenue from Carling to Hickory Street.
  • Champagne Avenue from Carling to Hickory.

There will also be a public viewing area at Commissioners Park at Dow's Lake.
