An elderly man has died under suspicious circumstances at a long-term care home in Ottawa's Nepean area.

Police said they are in the midst of an investigation.

The body of a man in his late 80s was found at the Peter D. Clark Centre off Centrepointe Drive, near Baseline transit station Wednesday morning, Ottawa police confirmed.

Four marked police cars and a detective car remained at the scene shortly before noon.

The Peter D. Clark centre is Ottawa's largest city-run long-term care home, with 211 beds in a complex of houses and bungalows.
