Windmill unveils plans for Domtar lands along Ottawa River
An Ottawa development company has filed zoning plans to transform the old Domtar paper mill site on the Ottawa River into a sustainable community.
Windmill Development Group's plans (see document below) include a visitor centre at the Chaudière Falls and a hotel on an island in the middle of the Ottawa River.
It shows residential areas in both Quebec and Ontario, plus plenty of plazas and access to the water.

The developer says they hope Ottawa, Gatineau and the National Capital Commission will give it zoning approval by the fall and foresees the entire project costing a billion dollars, with completion within 15 years.
The 37-acre parcel of land includes Ottawa’s Albert and Chaudière Islands and a portion of downtown Gatineau.
