Another potential Liberal leadership candidate opts out
Naturopathic doctor Kali Simmonds decides against running for the top job
Another potential candidate for the Liberal Party leadership on P.E.I. has decided against running.
Last week, Charlottetown naturopathic doctor Kali Simmonds said she was considering a run for the leadership.
But in a written statement Wednesday, she said she will not be seeking the job after all.
She said as a naturopathic doctor she'll continue to advocate for the best possible health care on P.E.I. and work directly with Islanders to educate and empower them to address their personal health needs.
Simmonds thanks those who shared their time and wisdom and offered her encouragement.
So far, former UPEI president Wade MacLauchlan is the only person who has officially launched a campaign for the top job.
The winner of the Liberal leadership will become premier.
