Camille Labchuk declares for Green Party in Toronto

Prince Edward Islander Camille Labchuk is running in an upcoming federal byelection in Toronto representing the Green Party.

Prince Edward Islander Camille Labchuk is running in an upcoming federal byelection in Toronto representing the Green Party.

Camille Labchuk also ran as a candidate for the Green Party in 2006.

Labchuk, the daughter of Island environmental activist Sharon Labchuk, is a lawyer, animal rights advocate and environmental activist. She said she is looking forward to giving back to the city she's called home for many years.

The byelection in Trinity-Spadina scheduled for June 30. Green Party Leader Elizabeth May said Labchuk is "brilliant and incredibly hardworking."

Labchuk was part of a Green Party rally at the University of Toronto Friday night.
