Charlottetown Deputy Police Chief Gary McGuigan said the two people involved in this incident were known to each other. He said the victim remains in serious condition.

“The investigators will be going out to speak with him and hopefully he will be able to shed some light from his perspective as to what took place,” said McGuigan.

Police believe an argument broke out inside an apartment complex on Palmers Lane involving Gaudet and two others. That's when Gaudet allegedly stabbed the victim, said police.

“It was an argument that escalated. It got out of hand, and the end result was the victim being stabbed,” said McGuigan.

He said police have spoken to several witnesses to try and piece together exactly what happened.

“The investigators have been talking to some people who lived in the building, some people that heard some things, some people that saw some things,” said McGuigan.

Gaudet will remain in custody, at least until her next court appearance on Friday morning.
