This is the first year for the Christmas storytelling and music festival, which will feature about 16 shows in a dozen churches and other venues across P.E.I. More are still being added.

Festival in Charming Churches runs Nov 19 to Dec 6 (Festival in Charming Churches)

Some of the performers include storytellers Gary Evans, David Weale, Dennis King and Nils Ling. Musical acts include Lennie Gallant, Meaghan Blanchard, Eddie Quinn, Janet McGarry, Doris Mason and Rachel and Amy Beck to name a few.

The shows will include some never-before seen material, including new songs. Some artists will be releasing new Christmas CDs, but festival chair Ray Brow said the shows are more than Christmas concerts.

"We have a fundraising objective, and our charity is the Syrian Refugee Relief concern," said Brow.

"It is truly a feel-good event."

The festival runs from Nov. 19 to Dec. 6.

The churches include St. Peter's Cathedral in Charlottetown, St. John's Anglican in Crapaud and Cornerstone Baptist church in Montague.
