J.P. Cormier wants to spark action on PTSD with his music
Cormier launches 14-date tour Sunday night in Souris, P.E.I.
Nova Scotia singer-songwriter J.P. Cormier will kick off his Canadian tour in Souris, P.E.I., Sunday night, and he hopes his music will spark action on post-traumatic stress disorder.
It's very frustrating to watch all these people suffering.- J.P. Cormier
Cormier, from Westville, N.S., toured Afghanistan in 2007 and is known for his songs about soldiers, suicide and PTSD, including 2014's Hometown Battlefield.
He wants his music to not only commemorate Canada's veterans, but also to inspire people to stop talking about veterans issues and to start doing something about it.
"I've grown angrier and angrier about the whole situation over the last couple of years, because since Hometown Battlefield came out, I've been drawn into this world, and it's very frustrating to watch all these people suffering," said Cormier.
Cormier's 14-date tour wraps up Jan. 24.
