Cornwall Perimeter Highway route chosen by P.E.I government
Transportation Minister says Town of Cornwall endorsed selected route
The P.E.I. Department of Transportation announced the route for the Cornwall Perimeter Highway ahead of a meeting with landowners in Cornwall, Wednesday night.
The perimeter highway will begin at the York Point Road intersection with the Trans-Canada Highway and will continue west along the north side of Cornwall and will then join back to the existing TCH in Clyde River.
Construction on the new highway will begin in 2017 with completion expected in two years.

Work began Tuesday to build two roundabouts in the North River area through to Maypoint.
Many factors in decision
Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar said the selection of the route was based on a number of considerations. They included environmental and socio-economic factors, as well as landowner consultations.

"This strategic infrastructure investment will be constructed to today's safety standards, improve the transport of goods, and benefit Islanders."
There will be a public information session in Cornwall Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
Biggar said the Town of Cornwall endorsed the selected route of the bypass.
