Charlottetown Islanders player Daniel Sprong, vying for a full-time job in the NHL, missed Tuesday night's Pittsburgh Penguins game in Florida.

He's in Montreal waiting for his Canadian Visa to be extended.

Sprong was born in the Netherlands and is waiting to become a Canadian citizen.

A meeting Monday in Montreal was postponed and that means Sprong can't travel with the team. The Penguins hope he'll be back with the team on Thursday to continue his nine-game tryout.

In five games with the Penguins this season, Sprong has one goal.

Sprong was picked 46th overall by the Penguins this year, but is one of just a handful of players from the 2015 draft playing in the NHL.
