The Workers Compensation Board of P.E.I. and DeltaWare Systems of Charlottetown are on the list, recently published by Atlantic Business Magazine.

About 350 employers took part in the competition. The final list includes a broad range of industry sectors: insurance companies, universities, a paper mill and an airline.

The companies were rated for basic amenities, like the physical workplace, as well as for extras like training opportunities.

"I was really honoured that they recognized all the good work that we do," said Luanne Gallant, acting CEO of the Workers Compensation Board of P.E.I.

"We have flexible work arrangements that we offer our staff, development and training opportunities. We have social programs, wellness programs, the salary levels are good. And we have benefits for young families and also workers that may be looking after parents."

Gallant said it's important that the Workers Compensation Board of P.E.I. set a good example when it comes to work-life balance.

DeltaWare was noted for its training opportunities — which include tuition subsidies and in-house mentoring — and for its subsidized social committee that arranges staff events throughout the year.
