Evangeline returns to Charlottetown Festival
The Confederation Centre of the Arts announces 2015 lineup
The popular musical Evangeline will return to the Charlottetown Festival next year, the Confederation Centre of the Arts announced Thursday morning.
The musical, which ran for one season in 2013, will be re-staged as a partnership with Edmonton’s Citadel Theatre.
Artistic director Adam Brazier called 2015 the "empowering season of female heroines."
Anne of Green Gables will also return with former associate artistic director Wade Lynch in the director's seat.
The 1960s-era comedy-musical Bittergirl will play at The Mack.
The festival will also feature the Atlantic Canadian premiere of the Stratford Festival and National Arts Centre co-production Alice Through the Looking-Glass.
“Whether through imagination or tireless determination, these stories speak to us all; these women give us strength and remind us that ‘life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage’," said Brazier in a news release.
"I am thrilled to be able to share these important works with our audiences and our programming partners across Canada."
Playing the Centre’s studio theatre will be Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad.
Ticket sales will open Saturday, October 18 and run until November 1 with a special 50 per cent off.
