Health groups aim to improve stroke recovery on P.E.I.
The Island's Heart and Stroke Foundation is teaming up with Health PEI to ask stroke survivors and health care providers what services they need during recovery.
The non-profit said it wants to improve health services for Islanders who have had a stroke.
Charlotte Comrie, CEO of the Heart and stroke Foundation of P.E.I., said the survey will look at how a community or private business can help.
"This won't be all about any particular organization or government itself. It may need a community to say, ‘yes, we have individuals in our area that have had a stroke and we need these five things, two things, one thing, to make their lives more fulfilling,’" she said
The foundation said 20 people have already signed up, but it wants to hear from more survivors and care takers.
Consultations will take place at the end of May.
Every year, about 340 Islanders have a stroke. Age is the number one risk factor and P.E.I.'s population is one of the oldest in Canada.
