High winds limit traffic on Confederation Bridge
RCMP advise traffic is backed up and to expect delays
Some vehicles have been restricted from crossing the Confederation Bridge on Thanksgiving Monday due to high winds.
The restrictions were put in place shortly before 12 p.m.
Restricted vehicles include automobiles towing trailers, motorcycles, high-sided vehicles including trucks, tractor trailers, recreational vehicles and buses.
As a result, East Prince RCMP are advising people to expect delays as they leave the Island.
"Due to ongoing high winds and heavy rain traffic is backed up from the Confederation Bridge to the Albany Y. Please slow down and travel with caution as traffic is moving slowly at this time," said Const Frank Stevenson said in a news release.
A rainfall warning was issued for parts of the Island Monday. The forecast also called for strong northerly winds gusting up to 80 km/h that will affect the province later this afternoon and continue throughout the evening.
