A P.E.I. company will pitch its international award-winning new food product on the CBC's Dragon's Den Wednesday night.

Island Abbey Foods is the creator of Honeydrops, a lozenge made of dried, pure honey, which can be used as a sweetener in coffee or tea or simply eaten as a candy. Honeydrops were named the world's best new food product at the SIAL D'Or in Paris in October.

The results of the show, which give entrepreneurs an opportunity to win an investment for their company from wealthy moguls, are not being released.

"We're here today looking for a million dollars, for a potential equity stake of 20 per cent in our business, which is literally changing the landscape of the worldwide honey market," company founder John Rowe tells the investor panel.

"And we have to buy Prince Edward Island to do that?" comments panelist Brett Wilson.

"Just a small piece of Prince Edward Island," Rowe responds.

Dragon's Den airs at 8 p.m. Wednesday on CBC-TV.

Rowe told CBC News taking Honeydrops to Dragon's Den is a good way to let more Canadians know about the product. Around two million people usually tune in to the show.

He added working with one or more of the business-savvy dragons would be lucrative.

On Tuesday Island Abby Foods won the Premier's Medal for Innovation.
