Lisa Simpson reads Anne of Green Gables
Iconic P.E.I. novel is bedtime reading for Lisa Simpson
Anne of Green Gables made an appearance on Sunday night's episode of The Simpsons.
During the episode titled Lisa with an S, Lisa Simpson pulls out a copy of the book at bedtime. Island fans of the show were quick to point it out on social media.
Anne Shirley, the iconic heroine of the classic P.E.I. novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, famously insisted that she was Anne with a E.
In the episode, Homer loses $5,000 during a poker game to Broadway singer Laney Fontaine. To pay off the debt, Lisa is loaned to Fontaine for a month to be a musician in the Broadway show.
Lisa asks Fontaine to read to her as the pair are staying in a hotel, and pulls out a copy of Anne. Fontaine responds she voiced the audiobook — except for one chapter that was voiced by Peter Falk, the actor who played Columbo.
