'Lonely Kid' Mark Skinner nominated for 1 ECMA, 3 Music PEI Awards
'Lonely Kid' Mark Skinner told his mother to Google nominees to let her know he was in the running
Mark Skinner — a Bonshaw-based electronic musician who goes by the moniker Lonely Kid — is really excited to have his first EP nominated for four awards; one ECMA and three Music PEI awards.
"I was trying to get ahold of my mom when I first heard about the [ECMA]," he told CBC Mainstreet P.E.I. "I called her probably 10 times because I was probably so excited."
She finally answered from a restaurant, and Skinner said he asked her to search for "ECMA nominees 2016 " online.
"I just hear her go on the phone, 'My son got nominated for Dance Recording of the Year!' It was a funny moment."

Skinner will be playing at two showcases during the ECMA award ceremony in Sydney, N.S., and hopes that will lead to new opportunities.
"I'm excited to be able to mingle with other artists who know what's going on and who can teach me new tricks and I can find new people to collaborate with," he said.
Skinner said he has "big plans" for the next EP, which will feature collaborations with other artists, but said it was too early to drop any names.
