P.E.I. actor Martha MacIsaac has gone from starring in a TV show set at the White House to one set in the Wild West.

The Pinkertons is a new action-adventure-crime show that draws from the real cases of Pinkerton's National Detective Agency. It's set in the 1860s, where MacIsaac plays Kate Warne, the first female detective in U.S. history.

The show started shooting in August near Winnipeg.

"We started airing in the States back in October, and it's on a bunch of different channels that show mostly reruns of other shows but they're looking for new content now," said MacIsaac.

"So we'll be their fresh new content on most of these channels, which has been wild. I've never shot a show that instantly got picked up for so many episodes. But it's been great."

The Pinkertons airs in Canada on CHCH and you can find it at various times on some U.S. channels as well.
