RCMP break down impaired driving numbers in Kings County, P.E.I.
Older men made up the largest group charged with impaired driving in eastern P.E.I. in 2014, according to numbers released by RCMP Wednesday.
RCMP broke the numbers down by age, and of the 44 charges laid 12 of them were for people aged between 50 and 60. There was also a spike of 9 for people aged 20 to 30 with smaller numbers for those aged 30 to 50.
RCMP Sgt. Leanne Butler said media programs aimed at younger drivers seem to be having an impact.
“We have been focusing on that for a number of years in the schools and with MADD and SADD partners,” said Butler.
“It looks like those pro-active programs have been working in that age group.”
The huge majority of people charged were men, 40 out of 44.
