A P.E.I. beer has been named the best brown ale in the country.

The company CEO says the win shows the brewery can compete with any Canadian brewery

A P.E.I. beer has been named the best brown ale in the country.

The PEI Brewing Company's Iron Bridge Brown Ale won gold at the Canadian Brewing Awards in the brown ale category.

Company CEO Jeff Squires says he is very proud of the win.

"It emphasizes the quality of the brewery and the quality of the people at the PEI Brewing Company who can put out products that compete on the national stage with any of the breweries in Canada," he said.

The beer is available for sale in P.E.I., New Brunswick and Alberta.

The Canadian Brewing Awards were held last week in Niagara Falls.
