Phone service is starting to be restored in the Atlantic region, following a service disruption Friday.

Bell Aliant landline and cell services were down, starting at approximately 11:20 a.m. Telus, Virgin and Koodo users were also affected.

Bell said the outage was caused by "accidental damage to multiple fibre network links."

Service started being restored to some customers around 2:45 p.m.

Health PEI said hospitals didn't report any disruption of services.

Some businesses, however, reported difficulties due to internet issues that may be related.

Two flights were delayed at Charlottetown Airport due to communication problems.
