The new Education Act on P.E.I. officially takes effect Saturday, according to a spokesperson with the Department of Education.
The act was passed in the P.E.I. legislature in May, replacing the former School Act.
Education Minister Doug Currie has said the act will provide more accountability for teachers and students in the school system.
The province is expected to provide more information on the Education Act and regulations this week.
