Snowfall warning now in effect for P.E.I.
Environment Canada is expecting snow to develop over the province around noon Friday
A snowfall warning is now in effect for Prince Edward Island with about 15 centimetres of snow expected to cover the province on Friday into Saturday morning, Environment Canada says.
The national weather service is expecting snow to develop over the province around noon.
Snowfall will continue into the evening when "snow may mix with ice pellets and then taper to scattered flurries or showers overnight," the warning said.
SNOWFALL WARNING in effect for all 3 counties for up to 15 cm Friday. I generally see snow/ice pellet amounts in the 10-20 cm range across much of P.E.I. (Eastern Kings County may see a bit less due to mixing with a bit more possible over Prince County and western Queens County). pic.twitter.com/yebQEiRP4d

Strong southeast to easterly winds with gusts up to 80 km/h are expected ahead of this system on Friday.
"Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow," the warning said.
Wind warning early Thursday
A wind warning was in effect early Thursday for Kings County, with gusts up to 90 km/h. That led to the cancellation of Northumberland Ferries through the middle part of the day.
Restrictions were still in place on Confederation Bridge at 6:30 a.m. That follows full closure for the third time in two days, which bridge officials described as a rare event.
The wintry weather started Sunday, when the temperature reached a maximum of 2 C, and daylight hours have not seen much weather over freezing since. There was a record snowfall on Tuesday.
