Philip Brown, a former P.E.I. cabinet minister, is joining the race for the Progressive Conservative nomination in the Summerside-Wilmot byelection.
Former cabinet minister seeks nomination for byelection
Philip Brown, a former P.E.I. cabinet minister, is joining the race for the Progressive Conservative nomination in the Summerside-Wilmot byelection.
Brown represented the district of Cascumpec-Grand River from 2000-07 under former premier Pat Binns. He was minister of tourism from 2003-07.
Brown announced his intention to return to politics on Facebook Friday morning.
He joins Summerside city Coun. Norma McColeman and Brian Ramsay, who contested the district in 2015, in seeking the nomination.
The party has set Monday, Sept. 12 as the date for the nomination meeting. No date has been set so far for the byelection.
