RCMP vehicles damaged, man bitten by police dog before early morning arrest
2 police SUVs, stun gun, spike belt not enough to contain suspect
A complaint about a suspicious person on the Blue Shank Road in P.E.I.'s Prince County led to some dramatic events early Thursday morning.
RCMP received a call just after 5 a.m. about a man in a truck in a parking lot on the road, just outside Summerside.
According to a news release, officers found a Nova Scotia man asleep in a ¾-ton truck. They identified the truck as having been reported stolen from Cumberland, N.S.
Police made an effort to hem in the truck as the suspect slept, laying down spike belts and positioning two RCMP SUVs to block an escape.

Officers used a stun gun when they moved in to make an arrest, but the now-awake man turned on the truck and smashed it into the police vehicles. He drove over the spike belt, blowing out his tires, but was able to get around the police vehicles to drive off.
The truck was located not far away, in some trees behind a residence, according to the release, so an RCMP dog team was called in to track the driver.
He was found and arrested, suffering a bite from the police dog in the process.
A 30-year-old Nova Scotia man will be facing "many charges," police said.
Police are also investigating items located in the truck that are believed to be stolen, the release said.
