Snow squall watch continues for much of P.E.I.
Conditions may become hazardous due to blowing snow and high winds
Prince Edward Islanders should be on the lookout for snow squalls Wednesday evening. Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for Queens County.
Strong and cold westerly winds blowing over the relatively warm waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence are likely to cause conditions favourable for the development of snow squalls Wednesday evening, according to the agency.
It is warning Islanders conditions may become hazardous due to blowing snow and high winds resulting in poor visibility.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate because of accumulating snow, the agency said. Drivers are urged to be prepared and exert caution on the roads.
SNOW SQUALL WATCH remains for Queens/Kings counties. Trace to 5 cm of additional snow possible with poor visibility in some areas. Please note that any significant accumulation will be localized under persistent squalls. Flurries will taper off as winds ease Thursday morning. pic.twitter.com/VWiPJIRLT2
