Snowmobiles damage blueberry field in eastern P.E.I.
'Please be respectful while operating your vehicles,' say RCMP
Snowmobiles caused "significant damage" to a blueberry field in Alberry Plains recently, according to RCMP.
"Driving on fields — in this case blueberry fields — snowmobiles, four-wheelers, and vehicles themselves can cause extensive irreparable damage to crops. Please be respectful while operating your vehicles," Const. Ellen Peters of Kings District RCMP said in a written release.
Police remind snowmobilers to stay off property such as fields, private property, business property, even government land unless they have consent from the owner. Snowmobilers who want to use the province's groomed trails must have a valid permit.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Kings District RCMP or Crimestoppers.
