More businesses applying for workers under Canada Summer Jobs program
More students are working on Prince Edward Island this summer, thanks to a boost in the federal Canada Summer Jobs program.
Jobs approved for funding this summer increased to 578, up from 353 last year, said MaryAnn Mihychuk, minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour.
That increase was also due to more interest from students and employers, Mihychuk said in a release.
Overall, the department received 30 per cent more applications from across the country this year, many from small business owners.
