The City of Summerside, P.E.I., had power restored Thursday after an unplanned outage that lasted about three hours.

The cause of the outage was still under investigation, said Gerald Giroux, an electrical engineer with the city.

The city reported power was out on its Facebook page around 5:30 p.m. and said crews were working diligently to restore power to the municipality.

Summerside has its own electric utility to service about 7,000 customers. It is separate from Maritime Electric, which services the rest of the Island.
