Snow could impact Islanders's travel plans Sunday

Although Environment Canada has lifted weather alerts for P.E.I. Sunday, the province can expect some snow.

P.E.I. probably won't be slammed like the rest of the Maritimes, but will see snow

P.E.I. can expect five to 10 centimetres of snow Sunday. That might be just enough to stall travel, especially considering the rest of the Maritimes is under weather alerts. (Submitted by Donna Dunn)

Although Environment Canada has lifted weather alerts for P.E.I. Sunday, it says the province can expect some snow.

The Island likely won't be as affected by the wintry weather to the same extent as Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Nevertheless, five to 10 centimetres of snow is forecast by Environment Canada.

CBC Meteorologist Peter Coade says snow will begin at around 9 a.m. in Charlottetown.

If you have weather-related closures to announce, please leave a message with the CBC storm centre: 1-877-236-9350.

That could impact travel plans on and off the Island.

Air Canada and West Jet have issued travel alerts for Charlottetown Sunday. Both airlines advise checking flight status before heading to the airport.

Most of the snow will fall through the day, ending in flurries Sunday evening.

Winds will be from the northwest 20 km/h, Environment Canada says.

The high Sunday is expected to reach –2 C.

Coade said on Twitter Saturday that another storm might be brewing for the Maritimes on Tuesday.
