Police in Summerside, P.E.I., say another person was caught in a so-called grandparent scam after receiving a call from someone pretending to be their grandson.
A Summerside resident answered a call at home the night of March 29 from an unknown male calling from a number with a 386 area code, which apparently originates in Florida.
The male caller called the resident 'Grampie' to which he responded with his grandson's name.
The caller said yes and continued, saying he had been badly hurt in an accident and needed money.
Police say there has been a significant increase in these types of scams.
Summerside police are warning residents to be cautious when receiving suspicious calls.
